Price Shopping?
Wouldn't it be nice if someone would give you a "drive-out" price for the home you're buying? Instead, the selling price is the starting point to which numerous additional fees get added. You can't help but get a little "shell-shocked" after a while. You become very conscious of the money you're spending and want to be sure to get the best value available.
When looking for an inspector be very careful not to confuse lowest price with best value. It doesn't take much time or training to do an inspection that almost or barely meets state requirements. At 123 Home Inspections I try to keep the price as low as possible, but the time and expense involved in providing high quality service prevents me from offering the lowest price.
I won't compromise on quality for the sake of a few bucks. I don't think you should either.
